Good morning,
today I am feeling really depressed, yesterday night I received a terrible news about a friend of mine.
Apart from that (today is a difficult day), I want to share with you on today's post a thing that I found out surfing the net.
I want to tell you about a book that I worked on some years ago.
The book is "Under the UN flag. The international community and th Srebrenica Genocide".
The author is a survivor of the massacre that took place in Srebrenica in 1995.
The book denounces the killing perpetrated in July 1995, during the Bosnian War, of more than 8,000 Bosniaks (Bosnian Muslims), mainly mean and boys, in and around the town of Srebrenica in Bosnia and Herzegovina, by units of the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) under the command of General Ratko Mladic.
The writer is a man who worked as an interpreter during the war and who directly experiences the death of his whole family and of thousands of more people.
The book is hard, it makes you think about genocide, about how innocent people can be murdered without thinking twice.
I won't tell you more about this book, I do want you to buy it and read it all.
There is no Italian translation.
I want to share with you the translation I did of a part of this book for a project carried on by Beit Casa Editrice in Triest (and I have just found out that it is published on the net) (the publisher I worked with in the translation), you can read my work here:

Ma a parte questo (giornata difficile, oggi), voglio condividere con voi un post di una cosa che ho trovato in internet.
Vi voglio parlare di un libro al quale ho lavorato qualche anno fa.

oggi è una terribile giornata, ieri sera sono venuta a conoscenza di una tragedia capitata ad un mio amico.
Ma a parte questo (giornata difficile, oggi), voglio condividere con voi un post di una cosa che ho trovato in internet.
Vi voglio parlare di un libro al quale ho lavorato qualche anno fa.
Il libro si intitola: "Under the UN flag. The international community and th Srebrenica Genocide".
L'autore è un sopravvissuto al massacro di Srebrenica, avvenuto nel 1995.
Il libro è una denuncia al genocidio perpetrato nel luglio del 1995 durante la guerra di Bosnia, di oltre 8.000 Bosniaci (Bosniaci di fede Musulmana), soprattutto uomini e ragazzi, all'interno della città di Srebrenica (Bosnia Erzegovina), per mano delle forze armate Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) al seguito del Generale Ratko Mladic.
L'autore del libro è un uomo che ha lavorato durante la guerra come interprete e che ha sperimentato direttamente la morte della sua stessa famiglia e di altre migliaia di persone.
Il libro è duro, fa riflettere sul genocidio, su come persone innocenti possano essere massacrate senza pensarci una seconda volta.
Non vi voglio dire nulla più, vorrei invece che compraste il libro (online è facilissimo!) e lo leggeste per rendervi conto di questo indicibile massacro.
Non esiste traduzione italiana.
